Through the Prism of Borders brings together artistic and academic voices to explore borderlands as dynamic and relational spaces shaped by history, landscape and human experience. Through interviews, essays and literary texts, the publication presents border walks, embedded research and artistic interventions inviting the reader to engage with the complexity of borderlands and how to reimagine them. At a time when borders are being reinforced and redrawn, this publication offers a multi-voiced reflection on how we connect across and beyond them.
The publication Through the Prism of Borders brings scientific and artistic research methods into dialogue and offers an opportunity for deeper engagement and critical reflection on the exhibition. The book is published by Kunstverein Publishing Milano, edited by Katia Anguelova, Angelika Burtscher and Marion Oberhofer and designed by Lungomare.
It includes newly commissioned texts by writers and researchers such as Dorte Jagetic Andersen, Chiara Brambila, Dimitar Karaneshev, Kapka Kassabova, Johanna Mitterhofer, Marcus Nicolson, Maxi Obexer, Eeva-Kaisa Prokkola, Joanna Wowrzeczka and Piero Zanini, exploring the connections and mutual enrichments between border studies, art and literature. A section of the book is dedicated to the newly commissioned artworks by Esra Ersen, Boris Missirkov & Georgi Bogdanov, Ivan Moudov, Zorka Wollny and ZimmerFrei (Anna de Manincor) as well as one special inserts with works by Pamela Dodds.
